Minot State University, also known as MSU or MiSU, is a four-year institution of higher learning in Minot, which is the 4th largest city in the US state of North Dakota, having a population estimated at a number of more than 36 500 inhabitants, during the 2000 census, also serving as the county seat of Ward County.
MSU was established in 1913, and it currently is the 3rd largest public university in the state. It has quickly evolved from a normal school to a Carnegie Master’s I institution, today offering its students undergraduate and graduate degree programs, in various fields of study, through 4 main academic divisions, which are: the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, College of Education and Health Sciences and the Graduate School.
MSU's athletic teams are known as the Minot State Beavers, which compete in NAIA, in the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC), the university currently making its way through NCAA Division II, in various sports for both men and women, including in basketball, cross country, golf, track and field, and volleyball and softball.
The distinctive colors of the Beavers are red and green, and their mascot is, obviously, the Beaver.
